Feed Me Cyprus

The food in Cyprus is very similar to food in Greece, but the cuisine also has lots of other cultural influences. While I was in Cyprus, I was able to try Mediterranean, Turkish, Georgian, and Middle Eastern flavors. Cypriot cuisine was very interesting, and their love of Halloumi was a thumbs up from me.
I tried several types of local sweets as well as some familiar ones from my time in London. One that I was really excited to try was called shoushoukos, a Georgian candy that’s very popular in Cyprus. It’s made up of nuts strung together and dipped in thick grape juice, and cut into small pieces. It wasn’t as sweet as I expected, since as an American, all candy should be dripping in sugar and just looking at it should give you diabetes. It was very chewy, and I preferred the carob flavor more than the original grape. Very interesting candy. I also fell in love with Cypriot Delights, which are for the most part the same as Turkish Delights, but Cypriot. I bought 3 boxes of the Orange and Lemon flavors during my trip but keep it on the shuushuu. Two may have already been eaten.
